Pros and cons of Breast Milk Calculator app for iPhone and iPad
Breast Milk Calculator app good for
Spiffy app, yes - spiffy.
Very helpful in reasuring new moms that their body works well, and is providing excellent nutrition (quatity and quality) for their newborn.
The formula companies sell their product by convincing new moms that they need to buy stuff to supplement or replace the moms milk.
This app will help show the wonder of the body and how well it is working.
This is a very helpful app for both moms and LCs for knowing how much supplementation to start out with when using supplementation devices. Of course it is mainly a starting point; the baby will ultimately decide how much he needs. If he hasnt been getting enough for a while, he may take more than the recommended amount so he can catch up on his weight. Used with flexibility in mind, this is a very useful app.
This is a great breastfeeding app especially for us Dads. You can easily make sure you know how much the baby needs when moms away. Nice layout and written by expert!
My wife and I LOVE this app to which such has been incredibly helpful with regard to our son getting the right amount of milk. Simple and easy to use... and, most importantly, a benefit to your childs help. If a rock head football coach like me can use it, anyone can use it. (Baby and breast milk required.) Most of this post dictated to me by my wife who is currently feeding our boy!
Some bad moments
I expect more from a paid app, the results provided do not calculate out the low and mid range of milk intake and provide only one calculation which appears to be a high range plus additional ounces if baby is growing. The calculation is high compared with every other web based calculator I have seen, there is no information as to the method used and why the values are higher--I even checked the makers website.
Once your baby hits about six months the app will no longer provide calculations but will instead disclaim that the introduction of solid foods it is no longer possible to calculate but then proceed to list "general rules" to use to determine milk intake.
I paid for this app to help plan for expressing milk, as a guide only, but am much happier with the online calculators.
If I could give it 0 stars I would! I paid money for this app and am so mad at myself for it! This app does what any FREE internet search could do for you. Its only feature is to calculate how much milk your baby "may" have received. It doesnt tell you how much more is needed or "what to leave for the babysitter" as it claims. And the drop down menus are broken when you try to enter in dates, its just a low class app all around. Worst app purchase ever!
